Female sex hormones disorders
Many people think that reproductive health can be disturbed only by sexual infections, which is absolutely untrue. Actually, reproductive system of a woman is a very fragile thing, which can be easily influenced by many factors, like immune system deficiency, inflammatory conditions, stress, digestion and others. The slightest hormonal deviance will result in problems with sexual health and overall health state.
What are hormones?
Hormones are substances generated by endocrine gland and influence other organs functioning, especially reproductive organs and sexual behavior in a very specific manner. Most hormones are found both in men and women, but the normal amount is quite different for both sexes. Main sex hormones, produced by ovaries are estrogen and progesterone. They are responsible for sexual development during puberty, regulate menstrual cycle and pregnancy development. There is also a small amount of testosterone presented in woman's body, but the amount is much smaller than in men.
Estrogen and estrogen disorders
Estrogen is very important for sexual development: breasts and hips development, production of vaginal lubrication, and female reproductive organs functioning.
During menstrual cycle estrogen is dominating in the first half of the period (from 7 to 14 day of the period) and its amount is the largest at ovulation, when the egg is released and the uterus lining starts to grow.
Estrogen fluctuations are most often causes of most sexual health problems, like endometriosis, hyperplastic process of endometrium and others.
High level of estrogen in women most often will result in frequent headaches, high blood pressure, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, legs convulsions, breast engorgement and other symptoms, which are especially evident during PMS (premenstrual syndrome). Estrogen deficiency will probably be the cause of irritability, poor menstrual flow or just no menstruations, low libido, headaches, vaginal dryness, hot flash and others.
Progesterone and progesterone disorders
Progesterone is another female hormone, which is mainly dominating at the second half of the period(during 14-24 days of the period). Progesterone has its influence on the uterus preparing it for future pregnancy. It's very important to have a good balance between estrogen and progesterone levels, otherwise there is almost inevitable for a woman to have problems with sexual health.
Progesterone dominance will result in weight increase, over fatigue, depression, low sexual drive, acne, poor menstruations, hot flash and others. Progesterone deficiency is often a cause of excessive menstrual bleeding, delay of the menses, bloody discharges and others.
Testosterone
Testosterone exerts on female organism much less than it has its influence on men. It is known that testosterone is responsible for libido, which means the higher the level the higher will be your sex drive, though it's again more obvious for men than women.
Do I have hormonal disorders?
First thing you should pay attention to is your psychological state. As endocrine system is mainly ruled by the nervous one, and unfortunately not many people can say they are live in harmony with their psyche. Stresses, anxiety, nervousness and fatigue can influence female sexual health in quite a bad way.
Most often all hormonal disorders will have its primary impact on your body. Take a look at your weight. Have you noticed that you've put on weight or otherwise have weight loss after stressful situation or a disease? In both cases it can affect your ovaries functioning. Greasy skin, acne and hirsutism (excessive hair growth) also will most probably indicate high level of male hormones and ovarian dysfunction. Excessive breast engorgement and pain in breast should be a warning sign for you as it can tell about a low progesterone level at its best.
Very often women in their reproductive age, having no sexual partner, experience hormonal disbalance, which in its turn can have unwanted effects on their sexual health. Sometimes, it's even better to use sex toys in situation, when sexual abstinence is inevitable. Besides, sex toys are frequently used for medical purposes to improve blood flow in the sex organs and prevent them from congestion.
Preventive care
Of course, in cases you've already noticed signs of hormonal disorders you should consult your doctor. But general recommendations for all women are quite easy to follow. Vitamins, especially E and B-vitamins play very important part in providing your body with necessary elements and keeping hormonal balance. Moving a lot, daily walking or exercises, foot massage and well-balanced diet will benefit woman's health and help her achieve hormonal balance.
