Male infertility

Every men must do three things during his life: build a house, plant a tree and grow up a child. Those who do not manage to do the latter are dissapointed more than others. They can have sex but their sexual health is not in order. Sexual health implies ability to impregnate and have children.
Many people think that if a woman cannot get pregnant, it means that she is to blame. This opinion is erroneous. Long ago scientists proved that male infertility can be met not more often than female one.
A man can have a perfect erection, feel healthy and nevertheless turn out to be infertile.Such situation seems to be inconceivable. It is nearly impossible to believe it. Unfortunately, such cases are widespread.
The matter is that a mans ability for reproduction depends on amount and quantity of his sperm, rather than on his sexual activity. Every second thousands of spermatazoons are produced in male organism. This process is continuous. One day the fastest and the most energetic spermatazoon is supposed to reach a female egg and fecundate it.
Unfortunately, there are many diseases and simply negative factors that are likely to violate this process.

Why does it happen?

There are three main problems behind male infertitity. These are: spermatazoons inferiority, decrease of their number and disorder in their discharge. These problems can be provoked by at least 16 causes.

The most frequent causes of male infertility are:

Varicocele (15%). It is when the veins along the spermatic cord dilate (widen). The spermatic cord suspends the testicles in the scrotum.
Injuries and defects of genitals (10-12%)
Infectious diseases (10%). First of all these are sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhhoe, syphilis, clamidiosis, etc. However, child disease parotitis is much more harmful for male fertility than any sexually transmitted disease.
Inflammation of male urino-genital organs, for example of prostate gland (prostatitis) or of urethra (urhetritis)
Immunologic disorders: when there is something wrong with immunity, production of special agents which can damage spermatazoons begins.
Sexual disorders:weak erection, prospermia and others.
Hormonal disorders, for example lack of male sex hormones testosterones
Also male infertility can be caused by a number of external factors:alcohol, tabacco, drugs, some medicines, environmental problems and such things as too tight clothes, frequent visiting sauna and too many efforts in gym

Diagnostics

If a couple has not managed to conceive a baby within two years of regular sex life without contraception, than there is 30-40% probability that a man may be infertile.Infertility is not a disease, it is a state of organism, that is why there are no certain symptoms that make it possible to identify infertility. Even if a man is examining his semen microscopically for hours, there will be no use.
Only a specialist can reveal the cause of infertility, so you should visit a doctor (and do not forget that a infertile couple should be examined together). A doctor will ask you many questions about diseases you had in childhood, work conditions, whether you had sexually transmitted diseases and others.
Then he will prescribe you spermogram, blood and urine tests and other procedures.

Treatment

First of all, it is necessary to get rid of factors that cause infertility. Many men even do not suppose that the cause can be rather banal: sometimes it is enough just to give up smoking or drinking alcohol.
If there is a hormonal disbalance, the doctor will prescribe correcting hormonal medications. If there are disorders in immune system, than these are treated. Defects of genitals are treated by surgical operations. Sexual problems are solved by sexologists and psychoterapists.

Some tips for men who wish to become fathers:

First of all give up smoking. Modern researches have showed that in 64% cases of infertility either both partners or only man smokes. This makes spermatazoons to be not active enough.
Do not overdo alcohol. As it is known, most of alcohol addicts are infertile. That is closely connected with the fact that alcohol dicreases the number of androgens in blood, that in its turn brings about testes atrophy
Do not overstain in gym. Intensive exercises can result in overheating of genitals that influences the semens ability to conceive negatively
Take vitamin C
Be careful when taking medicines. Some of them, such as antibiotics, decrease sperm production
Have enough protein, vitamines and minerals
You should know that abstinence during 3-6 days increases sperms volume as well as its quality. But do not overdo it. A longer abstinence, on the contrary, increases the number of old useless spermatazoons.
And do not delay seeing your doctor. The earlier you apply to a specialist the more chances to get rid of infertility and improve your sexual health you have.
