Male climacteric

Like women, men experience some changes in the second half of their life. These changes concern hormonal system and influence mens sexuality, mood and temperament.

There is no doubt, every person is unique. Some men being older than 40 are not much affected by hormonal changes and do not complain about their sexual health. Others experience a period of critical changes which influence their personal, social economic and family status and which can change their life dramatically.

Male climacteric (or andropause ) begins with hormonal, physiological and chemical changes. These changes usually occur in men of 40-50, however sometimes younger (of 35) or on the contrary older (of 65) men experience these changes.

Symptoms of andropause are quite similar to those which women experience in the same period of their life. All these symptoms can be divided into three groups:

Physiological symptoms

Putting on weight

Bone fragility

Hair loss

Insomnia

Tachycardia

Lack of endurance

Psychological symptoms

Irritability

Indecisions

Anxiety

Depression

Sexual symptoms

Low sex drive

Fear of losing potency

Sexual dreams of making love with young girls

Sexual symptoms of male climacteric make all men suffering from andropause wonder whether they will be able to continue their sex life and generally maintain their sexual health. This fear is quite natural, because sex life during andropause undergoes dramatic changes. These changes are as follows:

A man takes much more time for erection

A man needs physical caress to achieve erection. He does not have erection only when looking at a naked woman or erotic pictures or thinking about sex as he used to do being a young man.

A man does not have a full erection

Interval between two intercourses becomes longer. Some men of 60-70 might need more than a day to get ready for one more intercourse.

Men as well as their family members should be ready for these problems. Though male climacteric is quite a normal process, rather than a severe disease, it cannot be neglected. This means that every man who suffers from problems connected with andropause must apply to a doctor for consultation. A doctor might prescribe some hormonal or antidepressant drugs or advice some other means to cope with male problems.

Men should bear in mind that drugs are not the main solution of their problems. Very much depends on their mode of living. Therefore if you are a man of 40 or older take into consideration the following tips.

It has been observed that men who lead an active life cope with andropause problems easier than those who prefer idleness. Therefore you on no account should allow yourself relax even when feeling not very well. Go to a gym or swimming pool, or simply walk for an hour instead of idle lying and watching TV during the whole evening.

Pay especial attention to your nutrition. Do not overeat and avoid too hot and spicy food. Have food full of vitamins, minerals and cellulose: vegetables, fruit and diary.

Do morning exercises regularly. Do some simple exercises during the day. If you smoke try to give up this bad habit and avoid fuggy rooms. Take cold and hot shower.

All these simple rules will certainly help you to stand this not quite simple period of your life easily.

Bear in mind that male climacteric is a short term state and it does not mean the end of your sexual health and happy sex life. Be strong and patient, follow all doctors prescriptions and do not lose head. Healthy life and good sexual health is your future!
