Penile traumas

The variety of possible penile traumas is indeed astonishing. These can be breackage of frenulum, incised or stab wounds of penis, penis bruise, hypodermic breakage of carvenous body, penis dislocation, penis entrapment, injuries of scrotum, inverted testis and others. Penile traumas usually occur in foreskin, glans, carvenous body and can be combined with scrotum infures. Some of these injuries are minor ones, but others affect sexual health dramatically.
By the way, did you know that adults are more likely to have penile traumas than children? This fact can be easily explained. First of all, unlike children grown ups have sexual life. Secondly, they sometimes are much more inventive than babies.
How does it happen?
One of the most frequent types of minor penile injuries is skin entrapment with zipper. Though the wound usually is a small one, it is rather painful. If such a trouble happened to you, cut the zipper below the entrapped skin. The zipper will open itselt.
One of the causes of penile injuries is excessive friction. Passionate lovers and young men who have just began sex life usually have such a problem. The former suffer from skin injuries that result in cicatrices. Breakage of foreskin is characteristic of the latter.
Men with a short frenulum are likely to have a frenulum breakage during the intercourse. This trouble results in pain and bleeding. Do not overdo sex! Enjoy it, but do not harm your sexual health!

Penis entrapment is a rather peculiar type of penile injury. It can occur for example while tieing penis up with a thread, stripe or a wire. Children get such injuries when playing, whereas penis entrapment in adults is the result of masturbation, efforts aimed at maintaining erection or at preventing incontinence of urine. Do not they know that sexual health problems and other ailments must be treated by a doctor?
Penile fractures also occur sometimes. This trouble usually happens when a man misses vagina and penis hits against womans pelvic bones or thigh. In this case a crack is heard and penis gets black. Penile dislocation occurs in the same conditions as fracture.
If there is a penile trauma with breakage of one cavernous body, than cavernitis (inflammation of cavernous body) is likely to occur.
If penis is erected for a very long time (several hours or even days), then this is the result of disturbed circulation. Erection does not stop and a man has a rather strong ache. This disease is called priapism. By the way, men-diabetics are likely to have it, as well as other diseases concerning sexual health.
If a man had an infectious or an inflammatory disease of urethra or a breakage of penile sponge tissue, than some cicatrices are likely to appear on the penis during abhesion. These cicatrices bring about disturbed circulation and prevent a proportional erection. As the result Peironi disease developes that is penis contortion while erecion. When penis is still this contortion is not noticeable, but when penis is erected it gets so crooked that intercourse becomes impossible.

What is to be done?

It is known that the main obstacles for penile traumas treatment are not the problems themselves. Actually, the vast majority of men think that they are cleverer than a doctor and try to cope with their problems on their own. Such a behaviour causes many complcations. So you should forget about self-confidence and consult a doctor as soon as possible. The possibility to have erection after traumas or injures is nearly 100 per cent, provided you applied to your doctor in time. If you hesitated too long your chances to become an impotent are 25-75 per cent. The more so as some traumas can provoke a pain shock, which is likely to cause death. Do not delay seeing a doctor, treasure your sexual health.
The first aid consists of adjustment of antiseptic dressment and rubber band tourniquet ( as the last resort you can use a handkerchief). If penis is amputated completely, the dissected away organ must be kept in a refregerator. It can be put on its place surgically within 24 hours after the accident.

How are penile traumas treated?

The vast majority of penile traumas and injuries are treated exclusively surgically. Many of them require plastic surgery.
As often as not, penile traumas are combined with injuries of small pelvis organs and pelvis bones fractures. These complicate the treatment and necessarily require an ex-ray examination of small pelvis. Penetrating trauma as well as a nonpenetrating one must be operated immediately. If a penile injury caused a blood lake, the latter must be cut for gout removal. Otherwise a purulent infection is likely to occur. This infection can result is impotence or penis deformation.
If penis was amputated, than phalloplasty must be done. Phaloplasty is an operation that involves replacing the amputed part of the penis with a piece of skin from another part of the body with a plastic stick in it.
Even if you are a jack-of-all-trades you certainly will not be able to operate on yourself. So if something that affected your reproductive organs happened, (even if it was something astonishingly foolish) you must urgently consult a doctor. Otherwise you risk your sexual health and health in general.
